Congo TV adds first Black Stageplay to network playlist, seeking more playswrights to build stageplay base

Congo TV Network launched in 2017 as a Movie and TV Show platform but listed Short Films, Documentaries, and Stageplays as subcategories upon launch. Today, Eagle View Media Company (EVMC), the parent managment company for the fast growing streaming platform, has opened the gates for playwrights all over the world.

“Stageplays are actually the root of all film,” said Ro Wright, Program Director for Congo TV Network. “There are just as many playwrights around the country as there are up and coming filmmakers. They are all seeking the same thing…. exposure for their dynamic work.”

Walls, a play by Verlecsia Lee Sutton, debuts on Congo TV Network today. It’s the story of an estranged mother who reunites with her husband and children after generations of family secrets resurface. She and her husband are forced to deal with issues which separated them. Family members remember lies and drama from years past, all occuring in the same apartment.

The play was filmed live in San Antonio, TX and has traveled across the country. It features live original music written by Orlando and Verlecsia Lee Sutton.

Congo TV is extending an invitation for other playwrights to submit their stageplays. The plays will be available to all Congo TV subscribers on Apple TV, Roku, and the Amazon Firestick platforms. If you have a play you can email:
